Class attire for theatre classes is as follows: modest, comfortable clothing and shoes that allows each student to move, bend, and sit on the floor. Please no dresses, skirts, or skorts.
Each theatre student will need a theatrical make-up kit to use during the year. Theatre makeup is different than cosmetic makeup and is important due to theatrical lighting. Therefore, regular makeup will not be acceptable. If your student has a makeup kit, they may use their current kit. Otherwise a kit will need to be ordered.
Kits may be ordered through the School of Performing Arts by the first week of class. You may purchase a kit (current pricing can be found on the registration form) either at the time of registration or during the first week of classes. Kits that are not ordered with the class will need to be ordered by the parents and brought to the Theatre parent meeting. If you need to order your own kit, we recommend the Student Mini-Pro Kit by Mehron. For students who are concerned about allergies, an alternate option would the Ben Nye Personal Student Kit. There are many ways to apply theatre make-up. Many videos can be found on YouTube but you may also click here for an example.
All kits need to be labeled with a permanent marker on the kit itself with the child’s first and last name. Theatre make-up kits come in specific colors as noted on the Registration Form. Skin tones are unique. These kits allow students to blend the colors in order to create the appropriate tone for their skin. If you need assistance in knowing the appropriate skin tone, please see your child’s teacher. Kits can be ordered under the costume sizing section of the Registration Form.
